Usb Mouse Trackball Hack: Full Version Software

KADE microArcade. ME4The ME4 is designed to interface a Trackball and/or Spinner to your computer's PS2 mouse port. Signals from the Trackball and Spinner are merged and converted into PS2 mouse protocol. Since the response from both devices is merged at the ME4, activity from either device will report mouse movement to the PS2 mouse port. This arrangement allows both the Trackball and Spinner to be used simultaneously, or independently.Relevant Link:Mini-PACA very versatile keyboard/trackball/spinner encoder. (gamepad outputs added to 2015 version)It has a shift function for adding secondary functions to connected buttons. It has default MAME-style input mapping that can be reprogrammed with Ultimarc's WinIPAC utility. (PS/2 only works for buttons)The interface does not suffer from ghosting and matrix side-effects common to regular USB keyboards. The board is actually a small-size I-PAC2 with 3 optical interfaces added. It interfaces 28 buttons and 3 optical axes for a trackball and a spinner.2015 version Mini-PACConnects via USB. PS/2 connection is possible with an optional adaptor.Interfaces 32 buttons and 3 optical axes for a trackball and a spinner.Inputs can also be programmed as gamepad button outputs.Relevant Link:Mouse HackIt's possible to perform a simple hack on a ball-mouse that allows it to connect to a standard arcade trackball (and perhaps spinners?). This is done by removing the mouse's optical receivers and wiring the trackball's encoders to them. Additionally, a mouse can be hacked to create a spinner with a few extra parts.Relevant Link:Relevant Link:Opti-PAC. Quote from Vlaryn on September 5, 2017, 10:39 pmI just ordered a trackball from XArcade. They had it on sale for $50. Hope it works well. I am building a cabinet hopefully in the next month or so. For now I am just mounting my controls on a piece of spare wood to test them out.

I can decide to do a PC or rpi build. I have the PC left over from an old Bitcoin miner machine but getting all the pieces of hyperspin is giving me a headache. I got it running my Roms and such but building all the cool menus with videos is kinda a pain. I will let ya know how I like the xarcade. I plan to try it on both platforms. I have purchased the U-track track ball as shown further up in this thread, and bough the usb adapter to connect directly to a Pi3. I have both MLP 128 shrunk and Reys 128 image.

I can't seem to get the trackball to work with either image. My main goal is to get Centipede to work with the trackball. I have gone through the various settings and read almost everything I can find on the internet but have not been able to get this to work. I do know the trackball works as I have disconnected it from the pi and used it connected to a laptop using some software to make sure it is working. My current setup is a full size home built cabinet with 2 joysticks and 20 buttons, those do work, connected to a zero delay encoder then connected to the pi.

I'm trying to get the trackball with a left and right button up and running. Are both of those builds using the wrong rom sets to be able to use a trackball? What builds are you using or what other things can I try to get this up and running on the builds I have.Thanks.Can anyone help me? Quote from nikitathedog on October 13, 2017, 5:21 pmI’m not sure if MLP Shrunken is using Advmame, but I’m pretty sure from some info I found Rey’s is, but I don’t think it has centipede under MAME games or anywhere on the image. I used the following video to set up the controls on both. However, when you get to 5:00 in the video he launches a MAME game and then uses TAB to get to the MAME menu. In the MLP Shrunken image I have this does not work so I’m guessing he is not using Advmame in that image but is maybe in the full blown 128GB image?? The Rey’s one I can get to that menu although it looks different, maybe newer.I did follow the link you posted in my first attempts with using MLP Shrunken and modified the.rc file.

Gives me an idea, as maybe I need to download or enable advmame emulator to use on the game.On the Rey’s I can’t remember if I went into the.rc file and messed with adding/changing the lines of code or not so I’m going to have to go back and check through there. I'll have to see what I can do to get centipede on that one. Thanks for the help.I’m not sure if MLP Shrunken is using Advmame, but I’m pretty sure from some info I found Rey’s is, but I don’t think it has centipede under MAME games or anywhere on the image. Quote from Tone S on November 13, 2017, 5:56 amI have an Xarcade Tankstick and have been messing around with the trackball. Most of my Mame is LR-Mame2003. It automatically works with Centipede, Millipede, Goldent Tee 2k (TrackballV1.1) And most driving or motorcycle games. I know there is a setting in the control config. I have to find the Wiki again. That has direct impact on seeing the trackball as a Mouse or Pointer. As soon as I find it again I will post it.I haven't tried any in Adv-Mame yet.

I want to get it running with some other emulators next. Like Atari and SNES (Mario Paint) but Don't have time yet.I have an Xarcade Tankstick and have been messing around with the trackball. I've seen a few threads talk about LR-Mame2003 and the built in support for trackballs this has.I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a Pi image that includes this version of mame? I think they are all using lr-mame2003 but Centipede, Missile Command do not see the trackball at all. I tried using the Xarcade mapped as a keyboard but also using the Xarcade driver that makes it 2 game pads.I tried editing the retroarch cfg file adding lines from this link:eg:mame2003-mousedevice = 'mouse'mame2003-dialdevice = 'mouse'mame2003-trackballdevice = 'mouse'but it doesn't help. It's becoming an unhealthy obesssion.I confirmed I can see the trackball at the pi command line if I use the commandcat /dev/input/micebut still no luck in any arcade pi image that I've tried.
